Set within a transitional zone between Toronto’s high-rise downtown and its low-rise neighborhoods, King Toronto reimagines the urban block as a vibrant, porous community. The project wraps around several historic buildings, forming an organic frame organized around a central public park and plaza. Each residential module, rotated 45 degrees from the street grid, maximizes natural light, views, and air. The resulting volume offers an alternative to the conventional tower-and-podium typology, echoing Moshe Safdie’s visionary Habitat 67. Rooted in the city’s fabric rather than isolated from it, King Toronto blends architecture, landscape, and community into a living, breathing urban form.
